When it comes to selecting a wireless speaker system for your home or office there are three things that are must haves no matter what wireless system you choose. Use this list as a guideline on what to look for while you shop for a wireless speaker system.
1) Ability To Play Music From All Your Sources.
So you have loads of music stored on your various players, itunes on your Apple devices, mp3’s on your laptop and desktop, and the list goes on. The first feature of any quality wireless speaker system is the ability to play any sorts of file type, from any source, on your new wireless system. This feature really defines the whole purpose of the wireless system for me. Most wireless systems are connected in some way to your wireless router in your home or office. Make sure that the system has a ‘dock’ or transmitter/receiver with some type of port for the type of device that stores your music. At the very least make sure that the system has some sort of software or app that can be used to make playing your ‘captured’ music on the wireless speaker network. Beware, not all wireless systems play all music file types, and this could create a lot of extra work on your part down the road.
2) Separate Room Controls.
Next, make sure that the wireless speaker system you are considering has the ability to control each of the rooms on your wireless speaker network independently. This feature will allow you to have various family members listening to their favorite music in their own areas. No more ‘hogging’ the system by one member of the family. Your family will love you for this feature, and you’ll now be able to listen to your favorites anywhere you have the wireless speakers setup. Just think you can have your own music playing in the kitchen, while your kids have something different playing at the pool, all on the same system. For me this is the beauty of a truly great wireless music system.
3) Strong Wireless Network Signals.
Now I’m not an audio expert, but not all systems are created equal when it come to frequency and sound quality. Be sure to select a system that has strong network signals and acceptable sound quality for your listening pleasure. Like anything else you’ll get what you pay for, so don’t expect the best sound quality and strongest wireless network signals from low quality products. Only you know if you’re an audio expert who expects ‘live’ quality sound or if you are satisfied with some imperfections in highs and lows while you listen to music on your wireless speaker system. Take some time to read the available reviews, product and sales warranties, and guarantees. If the price is “to good to be true” it probably is, low price rarely includes high quality.
4) Integration With Existing Equipment.
Most people who love music have some sort of home stereo system. Make sure you new wireless music system will allow you to connect this system to the wireless network effortlessly. Most of the companies offering wireless products have this covered, but it is best to confirm this while you shop. The most popular wireless systems have some sort of ‘bridge’ receiver that can be connected directly to your existing equipment and play the wireless signal through the stereo receiver the same as any other imput to the system. This feature will help justify the purchase of the new wireless speaker system as part of your home entertainment package.
A wireless speaker system will be a great addition to your home or office if you seek out these features and buy according to your standards and budget. Happy listening.
