Crowders Mountain State Park in southwestern North Carolina stretches from the South Carolina condition line northeast toward Gastonia, North Carolina. The park follows a rugged Appalachian ridgeline that incorporates Crowders Mountain and Kings Pinnacle. Crowders Mountain is a kyanite-quartzite monadnock soaring to 1,625 feet with sheer vertical cliffs. Kyanite was mined in the place in the 1800s. In distinction, Kings Pinnacle has a higher elevation of 1,705 ft with a rounded profile. The land was at the time the searching ground of the Catawba and Cherokee Indians. Other trails at Crowders Mountain State Park lead hikers toward the summit of Crowders Mountain. The Bottom Trail is strenuous, with 336 steps at the best. The Rocktop Path and the Tower Trail are also intense and steep. The Lake Trail and the Fern Path are much simpler to hike. Visitors could see a wide range of wildlife in the park together with black and turkey vultures that roost on rocky outcrops.
A further well known action at Crowders Mountain State Park is rock climbing, which is permitted in selected places. Pitons and bolts are not permitted. Bouldering is permitted on Buzzards Roost. Fishing is permitted in the park’s lake with a North Carolina fishing license. Canoes are available for rent. Other recreational pursuits contain picnicking and camping. Primitive campsites are out there with h2o and pit bathrooms. Campers should hike to the sites with their equipment. There are also primitive team campsites in the park.
Crowders Mountain Condition Park can be accessed off I-85 in North Carolina at Exit 8 (Hwy 161). Abide by directional symptoms to the park. The park is open yr spherical, but park hrs change seasonally. There is no park entrance charge.
